This calendar is presented by Suburban Cyclists Unlimited, and lists recreational bicycle events that take place in Pennsylvania, New Jersey and Delaware, and start within approximately 150 miles of Horsham, Montgomery County, Pennsylvania. As of January 1, 2019, events in Maryland, New York and Connecticut will no longer be listed on this calendar. See Other Bicycle Event Calendars for bicycle events outside of the coverage area of the SCU calendar.

February 2020

Sun. Feb. 23, 2020, Sourland Semi-Classic, Flemington, NJ. This is a 64-mi ride that explores the Sourland Region of Central New Jersey. There will be a few unpaved roads to go with the famous Sourland climbs and flats. Kermesse Sport

Sat. April 4, 2020, Icicle Century, Elkton, MD. Choose from three routes of 13, 24 or 31 mi or combine them to get up to 68 mi on moderately-hilly terrain in the areas west and north of Newark, Delaware. Indoor food stop. White Clay Bicycle Club (WCBC)

Sun. April 5, 2020, Hell of Hunterdon, Blawenburg, NJ. Ride 30, 56 or 82 mi on this hilly, Belgian-themed ride in Hunterdon, Mercer and Somerset Counties, NJ, with sections of dirt, gravel and hardscrabble roads. Kermesse Sport

Sat. April 18, 2020, Fleche Buffoon, New Hope, PA. A “Spring Classic” for those who don’t like riding on dirt roads! Ride 75-mi through Bucks County, PA, and Hunterdon County, NJ, with 14 steep climbs totaling 6,100 ft of elevation gain. Kermesse Sport

Sat. April 18, 2020, New Holland Bicycle Race, New Holland, PA. Ride/race 30 or 50+ mi through scenic Lancaster County with 2,000-4,300 ft climbing.

Fri.-Sat. April 24-25, 2020, Ocean to Bay Bike Tour, Bethany Beach, DE. Ride 1 or 2 days on flat terrain - Friday: 15 mi; Saturday: 30, 50, 62 or 100 mi.

April 24-26, 2020, Face of America, Arlington, VA to Gettysburg, PA, 120-mi one-way. Ride with servicemen who have been severely injured in the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan

Sun. April 26, 2020, Tour de Franklin, Somerset, NJ. Fundraising is optional. Benefits the Franklin Township Foodbank. 2020 date from Facebook.

Sun. April 26, 2020, Tour de Scranton, Scranton, PA. Choice of 6 Routes, 7-to-65 mi: ride on-road, or ride off-road on the Lackawanna River Heritage Trail. Benefits the Erin Jessica Moreken Drug & Alcohol Treatment Fund.

May 2020

May 1-3, 2020, Spring-n2-Cycling Weekend, Danville, PA. Ride various distances on your own or on group rides with leaders. Registration includes cue sheets, meals, snacks, parties, and hotel accommodations. Sign up early – always sells out! Bicycle Club of Philadelphia (BCP)

Sat. May 9, 2020, Wheels for Meals, Dogfish Head Brewery, Milton, DE. Ride 12, 25 or 50 mi. Benefits Meals on Wheels Lewes-Rehoboth.

May 9-10, 2020, Bike MS: Coast the Coast, West Long Branch, NJ. Ride 1 or 2 days, 25-150 mi. $250 (1 day) / $350 (2 day) minimum fundraising. Benefits the National MS Society.

Wed. May 20, 2020, Ride of Silence. Simultaneous, free events at many locations including Doylestown and Philadelphia. Please see the event's website for a complete list of start locations - too many to list here! Join cyclists worldwide in a silent slow-paced ride (max. 12 mph) in honor of those who have been injured or killed while cycling on public roadways. 7:00pm ride start, but come early for the pre-ride dedication ceremony.

Sun. June 14, 2020, ACS Bike-a-thon. Ride one-way to Atlantic City from various start locations, 20-100 mi. Start from Philadelphia and ride across the Ben Franklin Bridge. $100 fundraising minimum. Benefits the American Cancer Society.

Sun. June 14, 2020, French Creek Iron Tour, Kimberton Fire Company Fairgrounds, Phoenixville, PA. 11-100 mi, rolling-hilly. Benefits the French & Pickering Creeks Conservation Trust.

Sat. June 20, 2020, Greater Philadelphia Tour de Cure, Delaware Valley University, Doylestown, PA. Ride 3, 12, 32 or 63 mi. Benefits the American Diabetes Association. Find a Tour de Cure near you.

Sat. June 20, 2020, Princeton Bicycling Event, Skillman, NJ. New start location and new routes in the rural Sourlands region of central NJ. Ride 5-70 mi, flat to hilly. Princeton Free Wheelers

Sat. June 27, 2020, Delaware DoubleCross, Smyrna High School, Smyrna, DE. Ride 31 or 62 mi on flat terrain. Cross and “doublecross” an entire state in 62 total miles! White Clay Bicycle Club (WCBC)

June 27-28, 2020, PA Hope Ride, Hershey Hope Lodge, Hummelstown, PA. Ride Saturday-Sunday: 150-175 mi, or Sunday-only: 30 or 62 mi. Benefits the American Cancer Society.

July 2020

Sat. July 11, 2020, Move for Mental Health, Laurel Acres Park, Mount Laurel, NJ. Ride 25, 40 or 65 mi. Benefits COP2COP, an organization comprised of retired police officers and licensed clinicians that offers 24/7 confidential peer support for NJ law enforcement officers and their families.

Sat. July 11, 2020, New Holland Bicycle Race, New Holland, PA. Ride/race 30 or 50+ mi through scenic Lancaster County with 2,000-4,500 ft climbing.

Sat. Aug. 8, 2020, Shorefire Century, Middletown High School, Middletown, DE. Ride 35, 65 or 100 mi on flat-to-gently-rolling terrain through scenic farmland in central Delaware. White Clay Bicycle Club (WCBC)

Sun. Aug. 16, 2020, Covered Bridge Classic, HACC Lancaster Campus, Lancaster, PA. Very scenic 16-, 33-, 65- and 100-mi routes through Amish farmlands on rolling terrain with a few hills. Advance registration is required - no day-of-event registration. Proceeds benefit the Lancaster Bicycle Club's grant program.

Sun. Aug. 30, 2020, Brandywine Tour, Kennett Square, PA. Ride 20-100 mi on rolling-to-hilly terrain through the scenic Brandywine Valley and western Chester County. Proceeds benefit bicycling advocacy organizations. Delaware Valley Bicycle Club.

September 2020

Sat. Sept. 12, 2020, Amish Country Bike Tour, Dover, DE. Ride 15, 25, 50, 62 or 100 mi on flat terrain. Mass start at 8:00am with police traffic control through Dover - riders have the right-of-way with no stopping at traffic lights or stop signs for the first 3 miles, or show-and-go start 7:00-10:30am without police traffic control.

Sat. Sept. 19, 2020, Jersey Devil Century, Parvin State Park, Centerton, NJ. Ride 25, 50, 75 or 100 mi on flat terrain. South Jersey Wheelmen

Sat. Sept. 19, 2020, #CaringForRare Bicycle Event, Lambertville, NJ. Ride 15 mi on the towpath. See Sept. 20 below for road rides. Benefits Avery's Hope.

Sun. Sept. 20, 2020, Three Creek Century, Penn Township Fire Department, Newville, PA. Ride 25, 50, 75 or 100 mi on lightly-traveled roads along and over the scenic Conodoguinet, Yellow Breeches and Big Spring creeks. Ride the optional 50-mi South Mountain Challenge which adds 1,000 extra feet of climbing to the 50-mi route or the optional 7-mi Kings Gap Climb add-on for the 25-mi route. Or ride 18-mi on the unpaved Cumberland Valley Rail Trail. Oct. 3-4, 2020, Bike MS: City to Shore, Cherry Hill to Ocean City, NJ. Multiple start locations. Ride 1 or 2 days: 25, 45, 75, 100, 150, or 175 mi. Benefits the National MS Society. Find your MS ride in other locations.

Sun. Oct. 11, 2020, Covered Bridges Ride, Tinicum Park, Erwinna, PA. This is the 40th-annual Covered Bridges Ride! Enjoy the fall foliage of Central and Upper Bucks County, and ride through up to six historic covered bridges. Central Bucks Bicycle Club (CBBC)

Bicycle Mileage Logs

Click on this link to download the SCU Universal Mileage Log. It is a Microsoft Excel-format (".XLSX") spreadsheet with 6 charts. The SCU Universal Mileage Log is good for any year. It provides automatic summation of mileage and number of rides, and it computes the average ride distance. In addition to the numeric data, the log displays six charts as shown in the photo (populated with simulated ride data in order to demonstrate the charting). Open your copy of the mileage log spreadsheet using Microsoft Excel, or any of the following free applications: Office Online, Google Sheets, Apple Numbers (free on iOS), Apache OpenOffice, LibreOffice, etc.

The listing of an event in this calendar does not constitute an endorsement by SCU or by the editor. All rides and activities posted on this list are the sole responsibility of the individual organizers of and participants in the ride or activity. All participants in rides and activities appearing on this list do so at their own risk and assume responsibility for all hazards, injuries, and other risks inherent in such rides and activities. Roads will be open to motor-vehicle traffic; extreme caution must be used while riding.

Events and dates are subject to change! Although this list is compiled from reliable sources, SCU and the editor are not responsible for errors or omissions. Please contact the event sponsor to confirm the date, registration deadlines and fees, start times, and services provided. We do not predict dates based on the prior year's calendar. When requesting information by mail, please send a S.A.S.E. to the sponsor.

All distances are listed in miles ("mi"). To convert to metric: 1 mi = 1.6 km; 1 km = 0.62 mi. 31 mi = Half Metric Century (50 km); 62 mi = Metric Century (100 km). All rides are on-road tours unless noted off-road. All events provide water stops, cue sheets, marked route, and SAG support, unless noted, but SCU is not responsible for the services provided at events on this calendar. All rides return to the starting location unless marked "one-way". Two-day events are Saturday-Sunday and three-day events are Friday-Sunday unless marked otherwise. There are no ride leaders for these events, and you ride at your own pace.

Suburban Cyclists Unlimited does not list other clubs' rides that conflict with the major SCU events (May 18, 2019 - Quad County Century). Commercial tours are not listed other than from sponsors of SCU or at the discretion of the editor. Indoor "spinning" events and randonnee events are not listed on this calendar.

Suburban Cyclists Unlimited is a recreational bicycle club, and we do not support or promote racing. Triathlons, duathlons, amateur races, criteriums and time trials are not listed on this web site.
